Queen Blogger
I liked this article Queen of the Mommy Bloggers, which is primarily about Heather Armstrong and the business lifestyle behind her blog dooce. I’ve read dooce for awhile, never because it was a mom blog but because Heather is a frank, sarcastic, and cynical writer. My favorite things! She is dang good at what she does—making an income out of blogging, and she does well whatever subtle things she can to keep things fresh around the ol’ blog space. She also isn’t afraid of a some heavy photoshop-loving, and we all know how much readers like that. What about you, anybody else a secret not-mom mommy blog reader?

I don’t know. I don’t think it should count until you actually have to do something. I certainly don’t turn my head at the sound yet.

I, too, am a non-mom mommy blog reader. I’ve also been a subscriber of Family Circle magazine since I was in junior high. What can I say, I’ve been middle aged my whole life.

I think I used to read Family Fun more prodigiously than my mom. She probably secretly kept the subscription going just for me. Of course all it did was remind me how my family never did arts and crafts, or made funny desserts out of marshmallows. I’m glad those days are past.

Cynicism and honesty sans whines and complaints is an art. Self indulgence that is funny and uplifting is rare. And somehow she manages to balance it all. Stellar.

It’s true–it’s far far tougher than she makes it appear. I also can’t believe all the haters she puts up with, and find that fascinating.
