Style Post March 2025
I know it’s time to write another style post when I’ve exceeded the appropriate number of “you should buy this” texts to friends and family. I had another baby at the end of October. After my last birth, I just waited until the “baby weight fell off” (spoiler, that didn’t happen), and this time, I’m doing things differently. I know getting dressed makes me feel good, so I’m renting and also buying things that fit now, which feels nice.
Gap chunky knit
Madewell darted barrel
Levi’s dad jeans
Alex Mill
Annie Costello Brown
Freda Salvador
The Great cardigan
Anderson’s Leather
Sam Edelman $50
I bought two of these Gap sweaters (in black and cream) while I was pregnant and love them. Apparently, they are all over TikTok now, and rightfully so; they’re great. They sell out fast but restock often, so if you don’t see your size, check back.
I’m enjoying that denim has moved away from skinny jeans, and we now see an abundance of different styles. I’ve been loving these barrel jeans. They run big, size down. Barrel leg pants can vary in fit. In general, I prefer the ones that fit through the hips and thigh and then have more fabric slowly added from mid-thigh to the ankle. In my opinion, the super baggy ones are comfortable but not flattering because of all the extra fabric. I like this style too, especially the black ones. Most of them hit at the ankle, and pair well with a slim shoe, like a ballet flat. And also these Levi’s. They have zero stretch but will give a little bit with wear. I’d take your regular size. Those two pairs currently cover my light and dark denim needs. I’m seeing A LOT of cargo pants out on the streets these days. And to be honest, I like it. My only callout is that I think they look best with a heavy fabric. There are some silky shiny options that I’m less drawn to. I also love classic army green pants, like these by Alex Mill.
I saw my aunt wearing these Sam Edelman studded flats and had to have them. Some things are better on than in the photos and these are one of them. They’re really good. I loved the studded flat that Prada did last year but the price was just insane. These are a great buy at $50.
I’ve shared many earrings that I own and love from LA designer Annie Costello Brown. I got this necklace from her for Christmas (which I have since lost) but loved it for the time I had it. It’s such a good price. I like the 20” version. I’ve contemplated rebuying it but we’re starting the baby phase where their tiny little super-human strength fists grab on to everything, so I probably won’t be wearing necklaces for a while anyway.
Frēda Salvador continues to make so many shoes I love. I got a version of their studded sandal, which is perfect, and I also have my eye on these ballet flats. The metallic ones are so fun.
The Great has never really been my cup of tea when it comes to clothing, but I rented this sweater, and I’m going to buy it because I love it so much. I don’t think I would spring for it at $395, but at $138, it’s a deal.
You know I love a knit any time of year and this yellow one is 100%. Size up for a little slouch. I’ve had an Anderson’s leather belt saved to my wish list for three years now and haven’t bought one yet. Breastfeeding a baby means that my style is mostly pants and tops so this might be the year I buy one. The woven ones are beautiful but I think this is the place I’d start. The tan can be paired with literally any color.
And one final tip that I’ve been leaning into, if you’re struggling to feel put together, one of the fastest ways to feel chic is to dress monochrome. Don’t worry about the shade being exactly right; just go for it. Pull out all of your cream clothing or chocolate brown or navy and create a look. Oh and sunglasses, having a pair of sunglasses you love is an instant mood and outfit booster.
Thank you Joanie!
