Rockport
We’re going up to Rockport for the holiday weekend. Lots of people in one house. Once you’re the one bringing noisy kids, you don’t mind this type of arrangement. In fact, it will probably be remarkably less work for me altogether! AND: I think there’s going to be a hammock. Sold.
Anyway, I know you all must have favorites up there…do tell! I’m a little clueless and haven’t had time to troll Yelp yet. So far I’ve just looked at Anna’s pretty photos a lot (that’s one of her’s up top). I mean, Bear Skin Neck? That’s an obvious first step.

The Bearskin Neck Country Store has great old fashioned games and candy, and Roy Moore Lobster Co. has reasonable seafood and a casual deck in the back to sit at. Enjoy Rockport!!!

Love that! I hope they have a simple chess board. We’ve been looking for one for awhile and it’s taking forever to find!

Oh man, Rockport was my favorite town to go to in college. I loved strolling Bear Skin Neck, but my favorite was the Bean and Leaf Cafe. It can get busy in there, but if you can, snag a table in the back. The huge window overlooks the water, and I just love the decor in there. So breezy and calming.

Oh! Love that memory. That table with a window sounds perfect, thank you!

Oh, you’ll have the best time! We love, love, love Rockport. Halibut Point State Park might be worth a visit (http://www.flickr.com/photos/beaktweets/5701801642/). It’s a beautiful stroll with views of a filled in quarry and also the ocean. Also, see if you can peek in the Rockport Music Hall. Last time we were there they were renovating it to have a GIANT window overlooking the ocean. I’m sure it’s gorgeous now that it’s done.

I remember now that this was a town you loved! I never would have wandered into a Music Hall, definitely want to check it out now.

You can’t go wrong with Bear Skin Neck and Halibut Point State Park.
Sadly, I hardly ever go to Rockport since the parking makes me crazy! I’ve wanted to check out the Sarah Elizabeth Shop for quite some time, they’re an old fashioned print shop and I love their style http://www.sarah-elizabeth-shop.com/welcome. Rockport has a new farmer’s market this year on Saturday’s from 9-1, which sounds lovely! http://goodmorninggloucester.wordpress.com/2013/06/12/the-rockport-farmers-market-is-coming-to-town/
You must check out Toad Hall Bookstore! I’ve loved going there ever since I was a kid http://toadhallbooks.org/

Love these!!

I’d like to give a hearty second for Toad Hall! Also, check out out Tuck’s for saltwater taffy, Old Garden Beach & Lulu’s Patry for unique kitchen supplies and dry goods. Right now I think the best dinner on Cape Ann is in Anisquam at the Market Restaurant. Have so much fun! – Ryan

Tuck’s Saltwater Taffy is the cutest name. Joe is a huge saltwater taffy fan, thanks for all of these!
